My strategy is, first I infect all humans, without being discovered. No symptoms, I only buy everything of plane and the ship. Then, when I get the message 'There are no healthy people left'. Then, I have many DNA, and then I unlesh hell. I buy total organ failure and coma. In the most cases you win the game.
Just make sure you have enough DNA to stave off the cure. Then you'll win 100% of the time with about 50%-70% cure. The game is actually quite easy once you do it the way you describe. All "strategy" is now lost. Infect, kill, ward of cure. Done.
You forgot about viruses. The really annoying thing about viral diseases is that they cost money to devolve and aremamreal pain to keep secret.
actually Total Organ Failure AND Necrosis is better, because Necrosis lets the dead body infect people instead of stopping there, and it has a pretty high lethality rate
ok...twice now, i have gotten scores over 100k: 123,320, and 112,710. virus on brutal; simply put, start in china, then buy all 6 level 1 symptoms before buying anything else! this is key! next get cold 1, drug 1, then heat 1. then start investing in transmissions based entirely on clues given from the news banners, or the soundtrack! if you hear a buzzing fly, then purchase insect 1 or 2; if a banner says ships are using new sterilizing technique, upgrade your water transmission. your points should start exploding. now the time comes to start buying all level 2 symptoms, but you should do this in the order in which they create the most infectivity; remember; your score is time and cure based! dont wait for the message to pop up saying everyone has been infected! keep checking your infection progress...if youre close to that message, start adding total organ failure, and coma, and insanity.! another key thing is to keep purchasing symptoms as you earn the points! happy infecting!
update; just scored 133,930 using same strategy, but one difference: you gotta squash their ability to find a cure before they start working on it by slowing their research time; dont waste points on genetic reshuffle until they reach 30% cure. it has max effect when you get genetic reshuffle 1 and 2 back to back! you should spend all points on symptoms thereafter!
virus is not difficult.I'm having a terrible time with prions though.
I beat prions using the fungus strategy under tips & tricks
i tried the one that started in china and found that it really failed quickly
But how do you beat it on the brutal level?
I beat all the basic types on Brutal, so:- I tend to start in Central Africa. No transport, but there's Egypt next door to take care of that later on.- Invest in Water transmission (to fit with the climate), when spreads to Sudan or other neighboring country, Air. Infectivity-wise, Air, Water and Insect are most cost-effective.- Stay under the radar, Coughing + Sneezing is a good Infectivity combo, but you need to devolve one of those to be able to stay hidden.- As above, work towards Organ Failure + Coma. The thing is, with some diseases (FUNGUUUUS!) you need to properly time when to go all murder-y.
make sure when you go for organ failure and coma to go through immune supression. the extra mutation rate at the end is a lifesaver at times.
Some people are having problems with 1.3 update and bioweapon plague in brutal difficult. Here is how to solve the puzzle with 100% of effectivity.I wouldn't read if you want to enjoy the game**************************************************The hardest countries to infect are small islands and some unpopulated and rich countries like canada or greenland. Now you must know that each DNA point you spend on abilites get them more expensive. So the trick is: save all DNA point you can and infect those hard countries in the beggining. Then kill them once they start to develop the cure, without kill too much and screw up the partially infected countries. How do you achieve it?Start in Russia. Russia has easy communication with Canada and Greenland. It is close to China and India and Europe (tons of people to infect = tons of DNA points to act)The BioWeapon has letality problems, it get raised with the time. So the first 1+4+7 DNA points should be for Gene Compression 1, 2, 3. This will give you the exact time you need to win.Now you must keep and eye on dead counter. Once it start to grow up develop Deactivate modified genes 1. YOU DONT NEED UPGRADE IT TO LVL 2 WITH THIS STRATEGY. It will allow you to earn some time before you are spotted.Russia is a cold and humid country. Your Bioweapon will be used to cold climates. And with good communicantion with Canada and Greenland you'll have them infected in no time.So to infect the most of north hemisphere (the rich one) before being spotted develop Birds 1 and Air 1. Then, and only then, water 1. If you develop water 1 first your bioweapon will spread to fast in russia, since is a humid country, and you'll be spotted to soon, losing some valuable time. After water 1, develop asap Birds 2. You'll have lots of infected countries. Remember: it doesnt matter if you're spotted but never ever spend points on deactivate modified genes 2 or nucleic acid neutralisation 1. In fact, NAN will screw up this strategy. You need to be letal.Mutated Symtoms are a good thing with this strategy. Usually they give you better infect ratios. The best ones are Rash and Cougthing. If they appears leave them, unless they dont contribute to the infect ratios (like insomnia), dont devolve them. Now you have the most of the north hemisphere infected and you have been spotted. Cure research start. Your task is: once cure research start to raise quickly (around 20-30%) kill north hemisphere without kill too much that you arent able to infect healthy people in rich and poor countries. To do it you must increase as much as possible infect ratio, and some way of letality.Develop Rash, Sweating. And some defence: Drug resistance 1 and genetic hardening 1. Then develop Heat 1 to help to spread easily in poor countries. Now you must KILL: Necrosis is your best weapon. High letality for rich countries and high infecting ratio for remaining healthy ppl. Poor countries are slow to infect? In africa develop blood 1, in sudamerica develop insect 1.Once you develop necrosis the world will focus on you, so you must develop infectius symptoms as well, and save points for reshuffles and genetic hardering 2.This worked 4 of 4 games i played with BioWeapon, Brutal, 1.3 update.Enjoy!LiquidProj3ct
your strategy is a complete flop
No! it's not you just suck ass, be patient you asshole
Someone needs a hug...
Great strategy,Cut really close a couple of times (98% Cure)but maneged to pull trough.Thanx man
Really good strategy. Hit cure:100% 3 times but just had enough for the reshuffle. On the edge stuff. But definitely one to follow
Barely failed twice using this strategy on Normal. Might need more bonuses.
This strategy is gold! Thanks dude!
Worked like a charm on my first try - 68% cure. Thanks!
What genetic code are you using? This could be the problem with some failing using the guide the Genetic boosts you get are important.Like I use Metabolic jump or or Hijack or the catalytic switch,Native Biome,Translesion, genetic mimic and extremophile depends on the virus which code I use but Bacteria I can pretty much use any code and win so perhaps your genetic code is what is allowing some to win and some to not.
Get all transmission and lethality upgrades and when everyone is infected get Armageddon. Way way way easier Armageddon kills ThE FASTEST
tried once in brutal. worked. im amazed. :D
that strategy doesnt work man, tried it 3 times already step by step and didnt work
YOU ARE NOT PATIENT AND YOU SUCK ASS!
The strategy does work. I followed it on my first try with a few minor changes and killed everyone. You have to be patient and devolve all symptoms until everyone is infected
I am having the same problem and no, Duane White, I'm NOT impatient. Your strategy is incomplete, especially since the only success stories involve changes to your "plan". Unknown, I'll have to try that. Also, if you buy all 9 leathal gene suppressors a 10th instant lethality gene becomes available.
I've been using the exact same strategy as him for over a year now and it's worked about 90% of the time for most of the disease types. Even WITHOUT using the gene boosts. :p
Ok, When you first start,(I like to start in Iceland) buy the first water transmission. When you have enough DNA points, buy the first air transmission. Once again when you have enough DNA points, but the first pill one. You might have to buy the first snowflake one if Russia and Greenland won't turn red... If America and some of the other rich countries don't turn you might have to buy the second pill one, but other than those few things, try to avoid buying anything, and devolving all the symptoms until everyone is infected. Once that happens, you can sell all transmissions and the snowflake. You should have a bunch of DNA points at this point, and you should try to buy symptoms in this order if at all possible: Anaemia, Haemophilia, Internal Haemorrhaging, (then the next one after that with the zig-zag line through it) after those, buy the Insomnia one... you should have a pretty decent death rate at this point... if you have any left over DNA points, buy the Genetic Hardening ones to slow cure research. Once you start killing people fast enough, you should start getting more DNA points popping up... and also, your DNA points will fill automatically based on the rate at which people are dying. The cure meter will fill kind of fast, but don't worry, once you start gathering DNA points you can buy the Genetic ReShuffle abilities to slow down the research even further. After you buy the abilities you need, any extra DNA points can go towards symptoms... try to get as many symptoms with the zig-zag lines as possible... but mostly go for Total Organ Failure, that one really knocks 'em dead... (heh)... this should lead to the world's demise, and all you gotta do is sit back and watch =]... Good luck!
By the way, this is my strategy for Bacteria on Normal mode.
i have started in some random africa country. Ive infected whole world and i was so sure that i will going to win in my first attempt, but some 35000 loosers was still alive and i've lost the game
LoL this happened to me too. Entire world is dead except for 40k ppl in Greenland, who wont get infected even though there are 10K+ infected ppl. Really hate greenland. Either it won't die or it won't get infected. Thinking of starting from that stupid country now.
Thats why you get greenland or madagascar first.maybe iceland.LOL i named ma desiese 'nothing'
what i found to get you alot of dna points is to plant the virus in a country with a massive population, china or india for example. Once you hit that country, sit and wait. A few game days later you will start to see your dna points increase as more of the population gets infected. easy way to get up to 70 dna points and not do anything. then, in one shot you can increase the infectivity rate or resistance rate. then watch the red fireworks spread.
Start Egypt, dont mutate any symptoms beyond coughing until you are sure you can kill people. Devolve any symptoms that mutate.Only get Air I, Air II, Water I, Water II, Extreme BioAerosol transmission. Get Cold resist I and II, Medicine Resist I. Once cure research starts, get a point or two in the one that slows down research.Once everyone is infected, mutate straight to Organ failure from coughing, when you have the points spread to Coma then insanity.Obviously spend points in your disease specific abilities as needed.
First time I've won the game, Thanks!
I think I have perfected Bio-Weopon on Brutal. Here are the step by step instructions:1. Start in China2. Use your first 12 DNA pts on Gene Compression 1,2,3. This will keep the lethality from coming back quickly in later steps.3. Then you have to multi-task. Make sure you keep enough DNA pts for Modified Genes 1 (4pts).4. [important!] Check Disease Chart to see if lethality has increased at all. If it has use Modified Genes 1 to bring it back to zero. If you wait for it to increase twice then Modified Genes 1 won't bring it to zero.4. Always keeping enough points for Modified Genes 1, start improving Water 1, Air 1, Water 2, Air 2.5. [important!] Check Disease Chart to see if lethality has increased at all. If it has use Modified Genes 1 to bring it back to zero. If you wait for it to increase twice then Modified Genes 1 won't bring it to zero.6. Always keeping enough points for Gene Modified 2 (9pts), begin adding Drug Resistance, Cold Resistance, and Heat Resistance.7. [important!] Check Disease Chart to see if lethality has increased again at all. If it has use Modified Genes 2 to bring it back to zero. If you wait for it to increase twice then Modified Genes 2 won't bring it to zero.8. Devolve all symptoms to keep from being noticed.9. Wait for Modified Genes 2 to wear off before doing anything else.10. Once Modified Genes 2 wears off, use insomnia, paranoia, seizures, Insanity, Dysentery, Diarrhoea, Pulmonary Oedema, and Pulmonary Fibrosis.11. Once people start dying you can use those pts. to purchase genetic hardening, genetic reshuffle 1, and genetic reshuffle 2.Good Luck
How to beat Plague Inc. In Brutal Mode with Neurax Worm. Step By Step.Step 1: Start in Saudi Arabia. If you have the right genes I reccomend this:DNA Genes: ATP Boost Travel Genes: Native Biome Environment Genes: Extremophile or Xerophile Mutation Genes: Either Genetic Mimic, Base Oxidisation, or Base Hydrilysis Evolution Genes: Sympto-stasis, or Trans-stasis Step 2: First get enough DNA To Get The Following Transmissions: Concertina Locomotion, Undulatory Locomotion, Air 1, Water 1, Eggs 1, and Eggs 2.Step 3: Get Enough DNA To Get The Following Symptoms: Neural Breach, Cerebral Tendrils, Adrenergic Constriction, Anxiolytic Infusion, Psychosis, Adoration, Devotion, and Transcendance.Step 4: Get Enough DNA To Get The Following Transmissions: Air 2, Water 2, Air 3, Water 3, Genetic Swap, Mutative Regeneration 1, Corpse Feeder 1, Mutative Regeneration 2, and Corpse Feeder 2.Step 5: Get Enough DNA To Get The Following Abilities: Cold Resistance 1, Heat Resistance 1, Cold Resistance 2, Heat Resistance 2, Environmental Hardening, and all of the Trojan Plane Abilities, and All Of The Trojan Roamer Abilities.Step 6: Get Enough DNA To Buy All Of The Drug Resistance Abilites, and all of the Genetic Hardening Abilities.Step 7: Save your DNA for if the cure gets Out Of Hand (70-80%), and buy all of the Genetic Reshuffles.Step 8: Whatever Countries weren't infected by the Neurax Worm, Send Trojan Planes To Them.Step 9: Just watch while your Transcendance from step 3 makes all of the the countries worship the neurax worm, and Enslave Humanity. -By Zachary Bernard Campbell-Blazys I hope you enjoy beating the game.
Beat the game at 55% cure, Thanks was worried it wouldn't work but then the trojan planes came into play.
The strategy above for bio weapon works. You just have to be patient and change a few things
Why can't i win in Australia? Or is it the hardest contury to infect????
I'll tell you how to do it:develop all abilities except the unleash armageddon on the world. Don't worry on mutated symptoms. Evolve air, water 1,2,extreme bioaerosol, bird 1, wait for world to get fully infected, and evolve armageddon. Works 100% on brutal. Killed the world before cure was 1% on casual.
I have only two ribbons on Fungus. I beat it on Brutal, Normal and the easy one. My DNA sequence is at 83% yet every gene mod is unlocked....is there a bug?
No, the necroa virus (zombies) added five more traits.
All this fuckers want to win in just 5 mins lol!!!
All levels so far even on brutal are pretty easy so long as you infect and stay hidden the only one this tactic doesn't work on is the Nano Virus the cure for it starts right away and I can beat this on Casual and Normal but Brutal, I have not been able to beat it I need to beat this one last virus on brutal to unlock the cheat codes.I like to start in Greenland when I am playing the other viruses, it can be the hardest to complete but as long as your using the stratagey of devolving symptoms it's fine takes a little longer also use the genetic code Translesion + the cost to devolve doesn't decrease and stays at a stable 2 points refunded. If anyone has a walkthrough on how they beat Nano virus on Brutal I'd be interested I may discover a pattern today who knows I am not going to stop trying that's for sure I really want to open the cheats
With the Nano Virus, don't let the cure percentage freak you out. It raises really fast but your disease still isn't actually "noticed", as in nations start closing their borders, until it starts to become more severe. "Code fragment interception" will slow it down a bit and "radical elements stabilized" will drop your cure percentage. A good place to start is Saudi Arabia since you can directly infect USA, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Great Britain, Iceland, Russia, Australia, China, India, Japan, Madagascar and New Zealand.I start with level 1 air resistance, and then rash and sweating to speed it up a bit without drawing too much attention. Then hit both of the Code fragment interceptions to slow the cure down. Water level 1, drug resistance level 1.The cure level should be around 80% by now, hit it with radical elements. Then Genetic Hardening level 1, rodent level 1 and livestock level 1, Genetic Hardening level 2, Cold resistance level 1.The cure should be back up to around 80%, hit it with Genetic Reshuffle, then drug resistance level 2. Once you hit this, drug immunity becomes available. Hit that, and then Cold resistance level 2. I then hit Cysts, Abscesses and hyper sensitivity to speed up infection rates without increasing severity too much, Anaemia and Insomnia to slow down research. Cure research should be back up to around 80% again, hit it with Encryption breached. Now it's just a matter of time for Norway, Sweden, Finland or Russia to infect Greenland. Once every nation is infected hit Replication overload, skin lesions, systematic infections, necrosis. Then start working all of the symptoms that make your disease harder to heal. As soon as everyone's infected hit organ failure. You should have a couple more Genetic Reshuffles left to use to drop your cure percentage. When everyone's almost dead, use your last Encryption Overload to drop the cure percentage even lower.I just beat it with 47% cure progress while walking through these steps.
Worked like a charm! Followed your strategy exactly except I got Anaemia and Insomnia through mutation a little earlier. Wiped out humanity i 566 days with 50% cure progress. I used these harder-to-heal-symptons: Paranoia, Paralysis, Coma and I think Seizures, can't remember. Didn't get Insanity though.

Most people I know who play this game said the hardest pathogen for them was Fungus. For me, Fungus was pretty easy using the bog-standard (and rather dull) approach of no symptoms until everyone (or almost everyone) was infected. Spore bursts actually made that one easier for me. My real challenge was Biowepon Brutal. I looked at a few other people's methods and found that none really worked for me. I'm not sure if this game runs on a Random Nonsense Generator or whether there's some other factor that decides what events happen, but that thing always seemed to hate me. I'd get the worst events every time and most runs I could only keep Lethality down for a minute or so, tops. In one game I actually used up all 3 Deactivates and all 3 Neutralizations before moving out of my starting country, but eventually I worked out my own way to do this and it's worked every time, even when the events screw me. My way is:You want to start in Russia. This is because Russia is:1. Cold2. In constant contact with Greenland and Canada, both of whom take ridiculously long to infect usually. Russia being cold means your bioweapon will be naturally resistant to cold, which really helps in Greenland, Iceland and Canada. Greenland is then infected reasonably quickly, as is Canada. Greenland then spreads to Iceland, and by the time you've hit half the world those three are usually completely infected, or near completely. As for upgrades, your first 3 upgrades should be Gene Compression 1, 2 and 3. You don't want to get too lethal too fast. Neutralizations can be done whenever you think they're needed. I kinda ignored them, they weren't really necessary until I was ready for Annihilate Gene. The first 3 times your Lethality creeps up, use your Deactivates. It's not a huge deal if you start killing early, since with no symptoms they won't really rush the cure until the deaths really start piling up, by which point it won't matter. Transmission-wise, whenever you don't need points for Deactivate and Neutralization you should be trying to unlock Extreme Bioaerosol. Eventually, you need Blood 1 as well, but that's late-game specifically for getting all of Africa. Unlocking it before you get a foothold down there won't do you any good. Same with Heat 1. You'll want it then, but until then it doesn't matter. Drug Resistance is unneccessary. You don't need Reshuffles for this method. So as mentioned above, once you get into Africa (and ONLY then) get Blood 1 and Heat 1. At this point it's essentially all about devolving traits to keep yourself hidden as long as possible. When they do notice you, let the mutations happen. They'll only boost infectivity, which only helps you. They will slightly expedite the cure effort though. Speaking of the cure, when it starts getting close to completion, as in around 75%-80%, switch on the Annihilate Gene. You should have it available by now, and the slow countries (Greenland, Iceland and Canada) should be completely infected. You're probably in every country by now, which is good. You will get a LOT of points for this, since the Annihilate Gene kills so quickly. Wait until there are very, very few infected people and DEVOLVE the Annihilate Gene. You should have plenty of DNA points, so evolve starting with Insomnia, all the way up to Insanity. This gives you all the time you need to finish infecting the remaining healthy people (the cure's been 200 days out and crawling along for me every time at this point, as many countries have fallen into anarchy and are unable to conduct research). Since you do have Blood 1, you may also want to invest in the Profuse Bleeding symptom combo. It's Skin Lesions + Haemophilia. Necrosis can also be used if you want a killer, or you can just wait until you've gotten everyone and flip on Annihilate again.
NOTE: There is some risk involved with this strategy, as if Annihilate Gene wipes out all of the carriers in a country that is not completely infected it will be harder to get back in there. Odds are good they'll have closed off all access. Though more expensive (much more), Extreme Zoonosis over Extreme Bioaerosol can remedy this, although that still takes luck. The trick I've found to avoiding this is basically to let the last country you infected get a bit more.... Infected before you start killing, and keep tabs on it. Kill the gene when that country specifically has very few carriers left. It will be the first to run out, most likely, so everywhere else should still have enough, provided you didn't wipe out the entire country (I tend to kill off about 5 each time I do this on the first Annihilate)
[How to beat Fungus Brutal with NO GENES]Hi all. Fungus in Brutal is known as the most difficult scenario in this game, and I want to share this reliable and fun-to-play method with you.1. Start in Canada. (In the beginning you want your disease to spread as SLOW as possible.)2. Buy Insomnia, and then wait for 1~2 years. I like to wait until two more symptoms are mutated, which is about exactly 2 years.3. Buy Paranoia.// Why do all these stuff? Because now our disease will have high severity, and we can use the spore abilities to harvest tons of DNA points!4. Buy the first 6 Spore Bursts, and then Spore Eruption.5. Keep an eye on the infection status. When there are too many infected people in one country, devolve all symptoms except one with severity 1, namely Anaemia, Coughing, Nausea and Rash.6. Buy transmission Water 1, 2, Air 1, 2, and abilities Heat Resistance 1, Drug Resistance 1, in any order you prefer. You will need to wait for your disease to spread in order to get the required points.7. Insect 1 and Heat Resistance 2 are optionals; they can be used to speed up the infection rate of hot countries.8. If some islands like Greenland or Madagascar are really hard to infect, use the remaining spore abilities to get them when they're the only ones left.9. By now you will have infected the whole world, with 60+ DNA points in stock. Have fun!
For more fun than the cheat modes (Faster infect, quicker game), use fungus on casual or normal with patho-stasis and whatever your favorite are on the other modes. The pathostasis makes it so that the spore bursts always cost one, and when you devolve them, they give two DNA back (Unless on hardcore). Use this to rack up as much DNA as you need, although I do think there is a limit to how much you can gain on normal. Then, activate the spore bursts to spread your disease randomly instead of having to wait for it to spread manually. With your disease everywhere at once, and with most transmissions unlocked, I've won in less than 5 months.

need help with zombie plague
Be more specific.
what else would you need to know!?
@Cameron Minshull, Upon reading your sta=rategy, I had a go with it on the bacteria level, with some slight improvisation due to game behaviour, it worked. thank you so much for this. Now onto the virus level :)
My advice: infect everybody first. I always start in Russia, then I save most ability upgrades for later so that the other things are relatively cheap. Then once everybody is infected I work on fighting the cure, but more importantly beating its clock. If you can kill everyone fast, then you don't need to spend lots of DNA points on resistance. Go for the further in upgrades like the organ failure and the brain/oxygen loss upgrades. And once everybody is infected, DEVOLVE TRANSMISSIONS! just do it. get those DNA points back.
First infect everyone (upgrade your infectionty), then, after it says the whole world is infected, upgrade your symptoms to total organ failure and insanity. After that, keep upgrading your symptoms. I highly recommend bacteria because if is easier to control, and the nano virus is the most difficult one to control.
if you think you are a pro, try the zombie virus. It's something between awesome and crazy.
its important to invest in abilities and transmission at the beginning of the game. Say, you start in a hot country (which is recommended), you will need to upgrade your cold resistance to get through to greenland and iceland. And remember that it is ALWAYS important to buy all levels of genetic hardening at the beginning of the game, because later in the game, prices rise higher, and it is hard to beat the cure without these abilities. There are some symptoms that also help with stopping the cure: Coma, and Insanity. stopping the cure is important for a fail-safe game!
For virus, I found a few things that might help.I played this one a bit differently because you're forced to spend money to devolve your random evolutions. What I did was: Started regular game, but I infected Canada first so it would infect the US and take care of those two right off the bat. I then purchased air and water as well as drug resistance in this order: Air 1, Water 1, Drug 1, Water 2, Air 2. By now, my disease had gotten a few free level 1 symptoms, increasing my infection rates to about 25%. At this point I grabbed whatever resistances and transmissions that were in the News (i.e. bird migrations). This gave me even more infections even faster. By now I had developed some level 2 symptoms, and devolved the ones that dramatically increased severity or even gave my virus any hint of lethality, so the research was slowed down to a bare minimum. At this point, I had infected almost every country, and the research was due to be done in about 10 years, so I grabbed as much infectivity as I could, making sure I kept over 60 DNA points for the hell that was about to be dispersed. Waiting a little longer, I had around 20,000 people left to be infected, and medium level research priority at about 35%. Quickly I grabbed all 3 levels of random evolutions. Here, I went all out, I had 100 DNA points and I grabbed whatever I could that would increase my lethality as well as my infectivity, almost maxing every bar. I sat back and watched as I got new symptoms every 20 seconds added on to the terrible things these foolish denizens had to go through. In no time, research was halted at 30% (I had slowed down the research speed and reconfigured the genetic structure every time I had the chance), and people were dropping like burning gnats. In no time, I had won with almost every symptom in the book.
How do i win on bioweapon? no matter what i do i can't win.... -_-
I really like reading and following your submit when i see them really educational and useful. This submit will be both equally educational and also useful. Thank you with regard to info anyone also been sporting making your internet site such an useful.Airline Codes
please someone write step by step fungus on normal. I'll be gratefull
I found starting in Greenland the best place for me. 1 Its some times hard to infect and 2 You can tell what the next country to get infected is. I'd like to know what your favorite starting point is.
I always start in Iceland. Due to its highly used airport and seaport, as well as its lower population, the disease spreads extremely fast. I've started the every time, and it works for me. It's gotten me through all disease types on normal and now it's helping me work through them on brutal.
cant beat the new simian flu on normal. it gets cured too fast
Evolve the apes' intelligence and have them attack the labs. That'll decrease the cure a lot and even save you from a Game Over if the cure reaches 100%. I also suggest investing on colonies, their bonus DNA points will be useful.
Can anyone explain the technicalities of the dna point system without making it super-complicated? Just what are bubbles anyways?I'm not new to the game, just struggling w/parasite brutal. Frugal strategist, conquered all 7 diseases on normal & all the brutals to this point. Can't get any further it seems until I firm understanding of the diff types of pts. Help anyone?
This is going to take multiple posts. Here's the beginning:Starting Location-I always start in India. I don't think starting place is very important, but I think people are making a mistake when they start on islands. That reduces the possibility for land transmission of the plague which is a good source of early game infections. I don't think starting in rich countries is a good idea unless you're playing a Nanovirus. Nanoviruses have to invest in Drug Resistance early to get Genetic Hardening to slow down cure research, so why not start in the US and take advantage of all the air and sea traffic that originates from there? Genes-I always use the same genes for every plague: Catalytic Switch- Gives DNA bonus for popping blue cure bottles (A lifesaver. Towards the end of the game your plague has more or less stopped evolving, and this will give you an infusion of DNA when they start working on a cure. You can use that DNA to develop extreme lethality and/or slow the cure as needed.)Teracyte- Increases chance of spreading by land (I think the other Travel genes are overspecialized. It's always nice to spread to neighboring countries.)Ionised Helix- bonus DNA when devolving (For most plagues you do a lot of devolving, and the other evolution genes just don't look appealing.)Genetic Mimic- Harder to cure (Darwinist is a viable alternative, but cure is an endgame event. This gives synergy with Catalytic Switch.)Extremophile- Gives bonus in all environments. (Before I unlocked that, I chose one that complemented my starting country. But the general bonus is better. You're going after the whole world, not just one part.)
Plagues-Bacteria, Virus, Prion, and Parasite allow for virtually identical play, and the other plagues use a modified version of this same strategy. First you need to build up Transmissions. Then focus on Abilities devolving any Symptoms that crop up until you're very well established. Water 1 +2, Bird 1 + 2, Air 1 + 2, Extreme Bioaerosol. I start with Water because I'm starting in a humid country. If I were to start in an arid country, I'd switch Water and Air. That helps you spread through your native country. Then Birds will help you spread to other countries. The other fluid and Bioaerosol will make you master of sea and air.A parasite can't be so aggressive about Transmission. They'll be discovered too soon. So just take Water 1 and then get all three levels of the Symbiosis ability. That will disguise your progress. Then you can resume the other Transmissions. After you've gotten the Transmissions, turn to Abilities. Cold 1 + 2. Drug Resistance 1. Genetic Hardening 1 + 2. The hardest parts of the world to get thoroughly infected are Greenland(!), Canada, and Iceland. The Cold bonuses will help there. If you've already spread to a rich country, you'll want to get Drug Resistance first. Bacteria should go straight to their shell special ability. Get two levels. Then get Drug Resistance 1, Cold 1, and Genetic Hardening 1 + 2. I'm not actually sure what the Prion's special ability does, but I evolve it after I've gotten Genetic Hardening 2. Viruses should not evolve their symptom-evolving ability until you're ready for the endgame. Now wait until every country is infected. You can usually start the endgame with two or three countries still untouched, but don't be too quick. Don't take too long either. Time is a factor in scoring. Hopefully, you've saved up at least 30 DNA points, and still haven't been detected. If a random mutation gives me Coughing, I take that as my que. Evolve Sneezing. That will spread your infection quickly, and they will rapidly start looking for a cure. But they won't put high priority on it or start closing ports. From now on, you can keep any symptoms that evolve naturally. Viruses can now evolve their special abilities. Now wait until every person is infected. Really every last person. Now, you can devolve Bioaerosol, Air, and Water. Evolve the symptom right underneath Sneezing (I can't remember the name) then Total Organ Failure - Coma - Paralysis. That will give you a huge a lethality and an added benefit of slowing the cure. The human race will be gone in no time. You can spend your DNA points on Genetic Shuffling to slow the cure or you can get more lethal traits (There's one down and to the right of Total Organ Failure that's nice. I love Necrosis but usually don't have the time to evolve it.)
Fungus-I lost on Fungus over and over. Lots of other people do too. I eventually came to the conclusion that I was losing because I fighting Fungus's special traits instead of using them. Specifically, I kept dogmatically insisting on evolving Bioaerosol. Funguses don't spread over air or sea. They just don't. Don't try. You're wasting your DNA points. Get Water 1, Bird 1 + 2, Air 1. Now get Cold 1 + 2, Drug Resistance 1. Now we have a balancing act. The way you're going to spread around the world is by using Spore Bursts and allowing those colonies to infect the surrounding countries. The problem is that Spore Burst infects a random country. It might infect one right next to another country that you've already infected, and that's a waste of your DNA points. You need enough points to get Genetic Hardening 1 + 2 and make yourself lethal for the end game. So watch which countries are infected, let the infection spread, then send out another Spore Burst. You start with two Spore Burst icons. Keep building on one only. It will lead you around in a circle. When you've completed the circle, that will unlock a mega burst ability in the center. A typical scenario for me is completing one mega burst and using one or two of the bursts from the other ring to infect the last few islands. You could do it more sparingly, but it would take time. And time is a factor in scoring.Once you're close to world coverage, use the same endgame strategy above.Nanovirus and Bioweapon-These are my favorites. You don't do nearly so much waiting in the these two games. Nanoviruses start off with a cure already being worked on, and Bioweapons are awfully hard to hide because they'll start getting lethal at random intervals. It's best to try to hide your Bioweapon for as long as possible, but with a Nanovirus the pressure is on right from the beginning and it's not going to let up. My strategy for previous games has been to build Transmissions then Abilities then Symptoms and devolve any random symptoms right up until the endgame. For Nanos and Weapons, you need to start with Abilities then evolve Transmissions leaving Symptoms for last. The first thing for a nano is to evolve two levels of slow down cure. Then you can get one level of water. Then get Drug Resistance 1, Genetic Hardening 1 + 2. Then you can evolve as much of the rest of my strategy as you can. Throughout the game, you can to keep going back and evolving Genetic Shuffle to keep the cure at bay. There's no point devolving symptoms as a Nano. They know you're out there. The most important thing is for you to spread as quickly as possible. The thing for Weapons is to get all three levels of the reduce lethality over time Ability. Then get one level of the reduce lethality now Ability. Then you can start getting some Transmissions. I do devolve Symptoms at first, but not Coughing or Sneezing. People are going to find out about you much earlier than other plagues. It's more important to spread. Periodically, your lethality will rise. When that happens you should evolve a level of one of the other two Weapon special abilities. When you get all of the levels of those abilities, it will unlock a special ability that says "Release Armageddon." When you evolve that, your lethality will rise amazingly. It replaces Total Organ Failure as the endgame move. It'll wipe out the whole planet in no time. Make sure absolutely everyone is infected before you do that.
I hope you found reading my guide pleasant and informative. Have a nice day. :)
I have been wrong, but so are all of you. The stealth thing doesn't work at high difficulty levels. You have to start with symptoms to get high infection rates quickly.
